Questions You May Have on Illinois Home Schooling (PDF)

You may absolutely join our larger group without having a child in the classroom program (also called a "microschool"). However, as this is one of the most popular support offerings, many more details about this program are included below:

COVID information - updated January 1, 2022:

  • Vaccination Requirement:  All parents AND all children ages 5+ in our classroom program must be vaccinated.     All teachers are fully vaccinated including booster shots.

  • Masking Requirement:  In-person instruction is masked and class is held outdoors as much as possible.

  • Testing Requirement:  Due to the Omicron variant, we are adding an additional request that families get tested weekly (unless the child has had COVID within the past 6 weeks).

  • Safety of our children is paramount.  As COVID levels continue to rise in January, families may make the decision to keep their children home and request remote instruction.  A child who is in isolation or quarantine may also -- but is not required to -- request remote instruction.

  • Remote instruction is fully individualized for each student and usually consists of a large tote bag of materials from the curriculum lending library, a parent letter with suggestions, and several sessions of Zoom follow up support each week.

The full-time classroom program (M/Tu/W/Th  9 am - 3 pm) does have openings for the 2021-2022 school year.  This offering is most suitable for parents who want the homeschool experience for their child(ren) but are unable to be full-time homeschool teachers themselves.  The cost is $135.00/week:

Current families have priority for spaces in the 2022-2023 school year; however, please feel free to contact us to arrange a tour of the school space, to ask questions about next year's calendar and curriculum, or to get a spot on the waiting list.

We anticipate being able to offer Science Club and Philosophy Club again starting in the Spring, as well as Summer Camps.

One-on-one academic tutoring is also available.  Montessori Math and Structured Word Inquiry are the topics most commonly requested.  The tutoring rate is $35.00/hour.

Homeschool consulting services are also offered, if you simply need some support for your own family's curriculum planning. It is our intention to have progressive education flourish in Southern Illinois!  Please ask for whatever support you need.

Thanks for your interest!  We will be in touch with you soon!
